BLOG #3 Flow experience

In the field of positive psychology, flow experience refers to a state of immersion in which people are completely immersed in a situation, paying attention, and filtering out all irrelevant perceptions while performing an activity.

It is a kind of positive psychological experience, which will bring great pleasure to individuals when they participate in activities, thus encouraging individuals to repeat the same activities without feeling bored.

In my daily study life, I also have a lot of flow experience. For example, when I get the right answer for my math homework, I feel a great sense of achievement. This sense of accomplishment will encourage me to work on the next problem. In this way, I will gradually ignore the time until I finish my homework and realize that a long time has passed. In art class, whenever I have inspiration, I can’t wait to pick up the brush and paint the picture in my mind until the painting is finished. As Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi says:

“If you are interested in something, you will focus on it, and if you focus attention on anything, it is likely that you will become interested in it. Many of the things we find interesting are not so by nature, but because we took the trouble of paying attention to them.”

Flow experience makes us more focused on one thing, which greatly improves our learning motivation and efficiency.
